An exciting year for CTC

2018 is shaping up to be an exciting year for local group Christchurch Theatre Club.

Kicking off their 2018 season will be Priscilla Queen of the Desert which will be performed from the 23rd to the 27th January at Loughborough Town Hall. This is the first time this extravagant musical will be presented in Loughborough and it has turned out to be a big hit with audiences, with only a small handful of tickets left for the whole run.

Whilst Priscilla Queen of the Desert will see the men of the society donning their heels and taking centre stage, the second production for the group gives the ladies their chance to shine in their next production; The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is a rollicking, hootenanny of a musical comedy, based on the true story of a legendary Texas brothel, and made famous by a film starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds. The musical follows the story of Miss Mona, the proprietor of the Chicken Ranch, and the drama that unfolds when Miss Mona and her girls come under fire from the religious televangelist, Melvin P. Thorpe. This hilarious, sexy, high energy song and dance comedy about the oldest profession will laugh you right out of your seat! Taking the lead role of Miss Mona will be Julie Easter who was most recently seen as Paulette in CTC’s Legally Blonde. Joining Julie will be Anita Benson as local waitress Doatsey Mae, Gemma Farnell as the Chicken Ranch housekeep Jewel, and Holly Easter and Sophie Draycott who will be playing Angel and Shy; two of Miss Mona’s girls. These leading ladies will be supported by a talented cast of 38 CTC performers, a terrific band, and a brand new set and costumes. Ticket are on sale now.

Finally, 2018 will see a slight rebranding for Christchurch Theatre Club who will be starting to use the name CTC.

As we approach our 50th anniversary, we felt as a society that the time was right for a slight rebranding, modernising our current image.  Whilst not wanting to deviate too much from our name Christchurch Theatre Club, CTC still keeps our identity but has enabled us to create a new, simpler logo, and is much easier to use on social media platforms. People will get to see our new logo on all material connected to The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and for future shows moving forward. We are very excited about the lead up to our 50th anniversary in 2020, with some exciting productions planned.
